Her Image

This piece was one of my first oil paintings, and I chose to paint a portrait of myself when I was younger. While I never found the reference image remarkable, my mother loves this photo if me. I chose to paint it to try and understand why she loves it. Through the process of painting it, I built a better understanding of the subtle emotions and the strength of the colors that give the portrait it's depth. This piece shows how I use art to seek understanding and connection.
