Stained glass in Catholic churches often depict part of a story, usually from the bible, intended to convey meaning to those who view them. The ink and oil part of this painting is meant to imitate the effect of the stained glass, but instead of biblical tales, they carry one of my own memories. I also incorporated an abstract illustration visible through the torn canvas to reflect the raw emotions behind these memories, just as stained glass holds the emotions of the stories it depicts.
In this piece, I wanted to explore how personal memories and experiences can carry similar weight as many religion stories can.
